Luminette Privacy Sheers are popular window treatment right now

Luminette Privacy Sheers are the on-trend window treatment

You know how great it feels to have a clean and tidy home and how life turns stressful when things are cluttered and messy. Shoukei Matsumoto, in ‘A Monk’s Guide to a Clean House and Mind,’ says, “Clean your screens as if you are cleaning your soul, allowing the air to flow through freely.” Luminette Privacy Sheers are the on-trend window treatment, so let us look at how to clean these Privacy Sheers.

Luminette Privacy Sheers – an introduction

Luminette® Privacy Sheers use sheer fabric for light and vanes to provide privacy. To create a softly diffused light, Luminette® Privacy Sheers combines lightweight fabric with vertical vanes attached to the back of the sheer. These vanes can give you light control and privacy as they can rotate up to 180°.

Cleaning Luminette Privacy Sheers

Luminette sheers are the perfect choice for various vertical applications. They are available in multiple fabrics, colors, and textures. You get a room-darkening option with every selection. They accord well with the patio and sliding doors. These light-diffusing sheers protect the floors and furniture from UV rays while still giving you the benefits of natural light—and maintaining your privacy.

Cleaning the Luminette sheers

Luminette Privacy Sheers are made of delicate fabric and mostly are nude shades. So, regular cleanup is needed to give the sheers a new and fresh look. Special attention is required when you are from a location that contains excessive dirt. Luminette sheers don’t bother you much on the cleaning part. Fabrics used for Luminette Privacy Sheers are 100% polyester, making them hard-wearing, anti-static, and dust resistant.

Periodic cleaning is suggested to help maintain your Luminette Privacy Sheers stay new for long. Materials should remain hanging for all cleaning applications to minimize handling, wrinkling, or puckering. Luminette Sheers, though made of lighter fabric, withstands most cleaning methods.

Dusting

Shut your Luminette Privacy Sheers close by pulling the cables on the side of the sheers. Next, brush the sheers entirely with a feather duster. To keep your hands clean from dirt, use latex gloves and keep oil in your hands off the privacy sheers. Now move to the other side to open the sheers, expose the other side, and dust the sheers with the duster. You can brush off most of the everyday dust and dirt with a light dusting; rarely do the sheers require more in-depth cleaning.

Vacuuming

Vacuum your Luminette Privacy sheers with a hand-held vacuum cleaner using a vertical stroke if the grime does not come out by dusting. Start from the top of the sheer and work your way to the bottom using straight strokes. Please do not use a brush attachment on the Luminette sheers because regular vacuum cleaners contain too much suction and damage the sheer fabric.

Using Mild Detergents

Moisten a washcloth with lukewarm water and blot any noticeably stained areas on the sheers. Add a gentle cloth detergent to the wet washcloth if the persistent stain and dab at it. Do not rub the stain. You won’t wish to risk damaging the fabric in the sheer. Let the area dry, and then apply some distilled or bottled water to a clean cloth or rag. Blot the stain clean with the water-soaked cloth or rag. Let the thin air dry.

Steaming

Steam your sheers with a hand-held steaming attachment to remove creases. Run the steamer from top to bottom; more specifically, go by the steamer manufacturer’s instructions. Hunter Douglas does not recommend heavy-duty steamers for this since they might cause fabric deterioration.

How do you remove oil stains?

Oil stains, whether motor or cooking oil, are challenging to remove from fabrics such as drapes and sheers. The fat clings to the fibers of the drapes, and merely laundering in your washer will not remove the stains. As a result, oil stains can and will ruin the look of your drapes. However, before you fling the stained drapes in the trash, try a few home cures that can successfully remove the oil stain and revive the look of your sheers.

Removing oil stains from Luminette Sheers

Position the drapes on a flat surface. Rub off the excess oil with the plastic spoon and discard it in the trash. Next, spray some amount of any absorbent over the oil stain, either baking soda, baby powder, or cornstarch.

Allow the porous material to sit on the drapes for 15 minutes. Then, remove the absorbent material with the upholstery extension fastened to your vacuum.

Alternatively, take the sheers outside and gently shake or brush the absorbent material off with your hand. Next, apply a dry-cleaning solvent to a clean cloth. Blotch, but do not rub the oil stain with the fabric. Instead, start from the edge of the oil smudge and blot while moving toward the middle.

Continue blotting the solvent until you have removed all trails from the sheers. Next, apply a pretreat stain remover to the drapes.

Let the stain remover sit on the drapes for 15 minutes. Then, finally, launder your drapes in cool water as you usually would.

Hunter Douglas Instructions

We know that Hunter Douglas is the manufacturer of Luminette Privacy Sheers. If your Luminette sheers are still unclean after cleaning, they recommend hiring a professional cleaner to perform an ultrasonic cleaning. Check that the tank is long enough to accommodate the sheer without folding it.

The water temperature must not be 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Inquire about the company’s experience with Hunter Douglas sheers. Make sure the sheers are transported properly on rollers back to your home. You can pay a company to execute an injection/extraction process in your home if you wish.
